How to clone or duplicate a document?

Published:
2 mins read

Cloning a document means generating a duplicate document from the existing one. A cloned document is identical in file name and content to its original one, but the document’s id remains unique. This option is less time-consuming and helpful in creating similar documents quickly.

Follow the below steps to clone or duplicate a document:

  • Go to Documents and click My Documents.
  • Then, select the document you want to clone. You will find the Clone document option in the context menu.

  • Another way is to click the document on the My Documents page, and it will be navigated to the document’s overview page.
  • Then click the More actions button. There you will find the Clone document option.

  • When you choose the Clone document option, a Clone Document dialog box will appear with two options: Without form field values and With form field values.

  • If you select the Without form field values option, the cloned document will not retain any form field values, and all fields will be empty in the new document.
  • If you choose the With form field values option, the cloned document will retain the form field values from the original document if they have any data. However, certain form field values will not be retained due to security and functionality limitations.
  • The following fields will be displayed after cloning, but their values will not be retained:
    1. Signature
    2. Initial
    3. Image
    4. Attachment
    5. Company
    6. Title
  • After selecting the desired clone type, click the Clone button in the dialog box. This will take you to the editing page of the cloned document, where you can change the recipient’s name and email address and make any additional modifications before sending the document for signing.
