What happens when permissions are updated for an already shared template in BoldSign?

1 min read

When permissions are updated for a template that has already been shared, all affected team members are promptly notified. These updates help maintain transparency and keep everyone aligned with their responsibilities.

How are team members notified

When template permissions are modified—such as changing a user’s access from view-only to edit—notifications are sent out to all relevant users through the following channels:

1. Email notifications

Team members receive an email detailing the updated permissions for the shared template.

2. Dashboard notifications

In addition to email, BoldSign users who are logged in will also receive an in-app notification. These appear in the platform’s notification tab and offer a quick view of the permission updates.

Why these notifications matter

Keeping team members informed of permission changes minimizes confusion and prevents unauthorized access or unintended edits. It also helps define each user’s role more clearly, improving efficiency in handling templates and associated documents.

Whether a user gains editing rights or loses access altogether, these real-time notifications ensure accountability and smooth collaboration.
