1 min read

The Field Resize Option lets you control how text fits inside a textbox field when a signer enters information. This ensures a clean, professional look while preventing text from overflowing.

Follow the steps below to set up textbox resizing:

  • Click Create New and select the Create New Document.
  • Fill in the required details and click Next.
  • On the Configure Fields page, drag and drop a Textbox field into your document.
  • The textbox settings will appear on the right.

  • Scroll to Resize Type and select one of the following options: Grow Vertically, Grow Horizontally, Grow Both Vertically & Horizontally, Fixed Size, or Auto Resize Font.

Resize type option

Resize Options Behavior Best For
Grow Vertically Expands downward as more text is added. Long responses (e.g., comments, notes).
Grow Horizontally Expands sideways until it reaches the page edge. Short but wide inputs (e.g., names, addresses).
Grow Both Vertically & Horizontally Expands sideways first, then downward if needed. Flexible fields with varying text lengths.
Fixed Size No expansion—text must fit inside the box. Strictly formatted fields (e.g., dates, IDs).
Auto Resize Font Shrinks text size to fit more content (min. font size: 7). Small fields with occasional extra text.
  • After selecting the required resize type, click Send to share the document with signers.

If the text exceeds the allowed space, signers will see the message, “Maximum content limit exceeded.”

For Auto Resize Font, text will not shrink below a font size of 7.
