How to use Field Resize Option for Text box field?

The Field Resize Option lets you control how text fits inside a textbox field when a signer enters information. This ensures a clean, professional look while preventing text from overflowing.
Follow the steps below to set up textbox resizing:
- Click
Create New
and select theCreate New Document
. - Fill in the required details and click
Next
. - On the Configure Fields page, drag and drop a
Textbox
field into your document. - The textbox settings will appear on the right.
- Scroll to Resize Type and select one of the following options:
Grow Vertically
,Grow Horizontally
,Grow Both Vertically & Horizontally
,Fixed Size
, orAuto Resize Font
.
Resize Options | Behavior | Best For |
---|---|---|
Grow Vertically | Expands downward as more text is added. | Long responses (e.g., comments, notes). |
Grow Horizontally | Expands sideways until it reaches the page edge. | Short but wide inputs (e.g., names, addresses). |
Grow Both Vertically & Horizontally | Expands sideways first, then downward if needed. | Flexible fields with varying text lengths. |
Fixed Size | No expansion—text must fit inside the box. | Strictly formatted fields (e.g., dates, IDs). |
Auto Resize Font | Shrinks text size to fit more content (min. font size: 7). | Small fields with occasional extra text. |
- After selecting the required resize type, click
Send
to share the document with signers.
If the text exceeds the allowed space, signers will see the message, “Maximum content limit exceeded.”
For Auto Resize Font, text will not shrink below a font size of 7.
