Understanding the Limits of Business vs Personal Domain Accounts

Published:
2 mins read

At BoldSign, document and signature request limits are applied based on the type of email domain associated with your account. This approach ensures fair and efficient use of platform resources, tailored to meet the needs of both individuals and organizations.

This article outlines the key differences between Business Domain (e.g., yourname@yourcompany.com) and Personal Domain (e.g., yourname@gmail.com) accounts, along with the signature request limits applicable to each.

Signature Request Limits Based on Email Domain

BoldSign distinguishes between two types of accounts:

  • Business accounts: These accounts are linked to verified business domains (e.g., yourname@yourcompany.com). Designed for professional and organizational use, they come with higher document and signature request limits.
  • Personal accounts: Accounts using free email domains such as Gmail, Yahoo, or Hotmail (e.g., yourname@gmail.com) fall under this category. To help prevent abuse and manage system resources, these accounts have lower limits.

When signing up with a free domain, a message will be shown highlighting the associated plan limitations. If you have access to a business domain, we recommend using it for enhanced limits.

How to Increase Your Limits?

If you are currently using a Gmail (or other free domain) account and need increased limits, you have two options:

  1. Switch to a Business Domain
You can update your email address to a business domain via the My Profile page. Once updated and verified, the system will automatically apply the higher limits associated with business accounts. Refer to this guide: How to change my email address?

  2. Contact BoldSign Support
If you prefer to continue using your Gmail (or other personal domain) address but represent a legitimate business, you can request an increase in limits by providing proof of business. Simply send one of the following to our support team at support@boldsign.com or create a ticket at https://support.boldsign.com:

  • A valid business website URL, or
  • A LinkedIn profile that shows your professional role and business affiliation

Once verified, our team will upgrade your account limits accordingly.
