How to sign a document with identity verification?

Identity verification in BoldSign offers a secure signer authentication method, ensuring that only authorized individuals can access and sign sensitive documents. This additional layer of security is powered by Stripe Identity, providing a robust and reliable verification process. BoldSign supports identity verification using government-issued documents such as passports, driver’s licenses, and national ID cards.

If you receive a signature request with identity verification enabled, you must complete the verification process before accessing and signing the document

Follow the steps below to sign a document with identity verification:

  1. Access the document

    • Open the signature request email sent to you and click the Review and Sign button. You will be directed to a verification page.

  1. Begin identity verification

    • Read the instructions and click the Verify your identity button. A dialog box will appear indicating that BoldSign uses Stripe for identity verification.

    • Review the instructions. Click the photo ID option from the first instruction to check accepted ID documents.

    • Click Agree and continue to proceed.

  2. Choose a verification method

    • A QR code will be displayed. You can scan the QR code with your mobile device to complete the verification on your mobile device.

    • Alternatively, choose from options in the Other options menu, such as sending the verification link via SMS or email, copying the link, or continuing with the verification process on your current device.

  3. Submit identification

    • You will be prompted to scan your identification document. Click I’m ready to scan both the front and back of your identification document.

    • Then, take a live selfie using your device’s camera. The selfie check feature uses machine learning to verify that the photo matches the document image.

The selfie check step is only available if it has been enabled by the sender.

  1. Wait for verification to complete

    • Once the documents are submitted, you will see a notification that your verification is in progress.
    • If the verification fails, you will be notified and given another chance to retry within the permitted limit.

    • If successful, you will automatically be redirected to the document signing page.

If verification fails after multiple attempts, the document will be locked, and you will need to contact the sender to proceed with the signing.

  1. Sign the document

    • After successful verification, review the document and fill in the required data. Click Finish to complete the signing process.

With identity verification, you can confidently sign documents, knowing that your identity is securely validated, adding trust and compliance to your digital transactions.
