How to apply for a BAA and enable HIPAA in your BoldSign account
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) establishes strict standards for safeguarding sensitive patient data, known as Protected Health Information (PHI). BoldSign is designed to support HIPAA compliance, enabling users to securely manage PHI.
To activate HIPAA compliance and complete a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) with BoldSign, follow these steps:
Requirements
Before you begin, ensure the following:
- You must be on the Business Plan or a higher-tier subscription.
- Your subscription must be billed annually.
Step 1: Contact BoldSign Support to Request HIPAA Enablement and a BAA
To initiate the process of enabling HIPAA compliance and signing a BAA:

Visit the BoldSign Contact Page. Alternatively, you can create a support ticket using the Create Ticket link.

Fill out the required fields in the contact form:
Name
: Provide your full name.Email
: Enter a valid email address for communication.Company
: Provide your company or organization name.Phone Number
(optional): Include a contact number if desired.Area of Interest
: Select whether you’re interested in the BoldSign webapp, API, or both.Message
: Clearly state that you are requesting to enable HIPAA compliance and sign a Business Associate Agreement (BAA).

Submit
button to send your request.
Step 2: BAA Processing and Signing
After submitting your request:
- A support ticket will be created, and the BoldSign support team will forward your request to the legal team.
- The legal team will prepare the BAA form, which will be signed by an authorized representative of BoldSign.
- The signed BAA will be sent to you for your review and signature.
- Carefully review the BAA and complete the signing process.
Step 3: HIPAA Feature Activation
After the BAA has been signed by both the Syncfusion authorized representative and the customer:
- Reply to the original support ticket to confirm that the BAA signing process is complete.
- The BoldSign support team will verify the signatures and proceed to activate HIPAA-compliant features on your account.
- You will receive a confirmation message via the same support ticket once the HIPAA features have been successfully enabled.
Step 4: Verify HIPPA Activation
After confirmation from support ticket:
- Navigate to your
Business Profile
settings in your BoldSign account. - You’ll see that the HIPAA compliance option is enabled in your account.
