What are the key Highlights of an SMS-based signature request Audit trail?

Published:

When a document is sent for signature via SMS and completed, an SMS-based audit trail is automatically generated to provide a secure and traceable record of the entire signing process. This ensures transparency and accountability by capturing key metadata related to the document, sender, recipient, and each signing event.
Once the signing is finalized, the audit trail becomes available for download. It includes a timestamped, tamper-evident log of all actions taken during the signing journey.

The audit trail includes the following information:

  • Document Information: Provides document ID, type, name, status, title, signing order, page count, and timestamps for sending and completion.
  • Sender and Recipient Details: Records the sender’s name, email, IP address, and device details. For the recipient, it captures phone number, name, IP address, and device information.
  • Phone Number Tracking: Records the recipient’s phone number used for sending SMS signature requests and notifications, ensuring full traceability of mobile-based interactions.
  • Signer Authentication: Records regarding the signer’s authentication process used to verify the signer’s identity before accessing or signing the document.
  • Signature Type and Consent: Specifies the type of signature applied (e.g., typed signature) and confirms acceptance of the electronic signature disclosure.
  • Timestamps and Events: Documents the exact time each action occurred, including when the document was sent, viewed, signed, and completed.
  • User Activity: Logs all user actions such as viewing, signing, or reassigning the document, with detailed timestamps for each event.
