How to set predefined signature types for signers on the mobile app?
Published:
In BoldSign, account administrators can predefine the signature types that signers are allowed to use. This ensures signers only use the permitted signature methods, helping maintain consistency and uniformity across all documents.
Setting the allowed signature types
Follow the below steps to show a specific signature type to signers from the web app:
- Expand the
Settingsmenu and choose theBusiness Profileoption. - In the Signature Types section, select the signature type(s) that should be displayed to the signers while signing the document.
- The available signature types include:
Draw– Allow signers to draw their signature on the screen.Text– Allow signers to choose a typed signature from the auto‑generated styles.Image– Allow signers to upload an image of their signature.
- You can select one, two, or all three types depending on your requirements. For example, you can enable only
TextandDrawsignatures.
Choosing the default signature type
- If you choose to allow more than one signature type, you must specify the default signature type:
- By default,
Textis used as the default signature type if Text is one of the allowed types. - However, you can change the default based on the formats you enabled.
- For example, if the allowed signature types are
TextandDraw, you must choose eitherTextorDrawas the default.
- Once your selections are complete, click the
Save changesbutton.
The default signature type must always be one of the allowed signature types.
How the pre‑defined signature types work on the mobile app
- Once you have logged into your mobile app account and initiated the signing process:
- When you tap the Signature field, the signature screen opens with the default signature type set by the sender’s admin.
- The other allowed signature types will also be displayed based on the selection configured by the sender’s admin. This allows the signer to switch to another allowed type if they do not wish to use the default one.
If the sender’s admin enabled only one signature type, the signer will be restricted to that type alone. Other types will not appear on the signature screen.
