How to send a document with sms authentication enabled and track its action history?

Published:

BoldSign allows users to send documents with SMS authentication, adding an extra layer of security by requiring a one-time password (OTP) sent to the recipient’s phone number before access is granted. It also provides a centralized document history where users can track SMS authentication progress and other actions, including timestamps, IP addresses, and verification attempts.

Sending a document with SMS authentication enabled

Follow these steps to enable SMS authentication:

  • Click Create New and select Create New Document.

  • On the Prepare Document page, open the Settings dropdown below the recipient field.

  • Enable the Authentication feature.

  • Select SMS OTP and specify the phone number to be used for verification. If SMS delivery is enabled for the recipient, SMS authentication will automatically use the same phone number specified for delivery.

    Enable SMS opt

  • If the current plan does not support SMS authentication, an Upgrade option will appear next to SMS OTP. Click Upgrade to go to the subscription page, upgrade the plan, and activate the feature.

  • Send the document for signature.

  • When the recipient starts the signing process:

    • A prompt will appear to verify the phone number.
    • An auto-generated verification code will be sent to the recipient’s phone number.

    SMS opt

    • The recipient must enter the received code to access the document.

    Enter SMS opt
