Understanding Usage Analytics, Performance Metrics, and Query Metrics in Bold BI Enterprise Insights
Bold BI provides predefined Enterprise Insights dashboards that help administrators monitor dashboard activity, user interaction, dashboard performance, query performance, and embedded dashboard activity.
Note: According to the official documentation, this feature is available in On-Premises Deployment and is not available in Syncfusion Managed Cloud Server.
How to access Enterprise Insights dashboards
1. Log in as an Administrator
Only admin users can access the Enterprise Insights option.
2. Open the dashboard listing page
Go to the main dashboard listing page in your Bold BI site and click the Enterprise Insights button.
3. Open the Enterprise Insights category
Find and click Dashboard Usage Analytics in the Enterprise Insights category.
If you do not see the Enterprise Insights category:
- Go to Settings → Dashboard Settings
- Open the Enterprise Insights settings
- Enable the Enterprise Insights option
- Choose whether to show or hide Performance Metrics and Query Metrics
- Click Save
Note: The official documentation states that usage analytics, performance metrics, and query metrics are enabled by default. It also states that Performance Metrics and Query Metrics cannot be enabled unless Enterprise Insights is enabled.
Dashboards available in Enterprise Insights
Bold BI provides the following predefined dashboards under Enterprise Insights.
1. Dashboard Usage Analytics
Focus:
- dashboard activity
- user interaction
- engagement patterns
2. Performance Monitoring Dashboard
Focus:
- dashboard performance
- slow dashboards
- slow widgets
- slow data sources
3. Query Performance Tracking
Focus:
- query execution details
- query status
- slow-running queries
- query impact on performance
4. Embedded Analytics
Focus:
- activity related to embedded dashboards
- embedded dashboard views
- embedded user activity analysis
Note: The official documentation describes this as a predefined dashboard for tracking embedded dashboard activity, such as dashboard views.
How these dashboards differ
These dashboards are provided as separate predefined views within Enterprise Insights, each serving a different monitoring purpose:
- Dashboard Usage Analytics focuses on dashboard activity and user interaction
- Performance Monitoring Dashboard focuses on dashboard-level performance
- Query Performance Tracking focuses on query-level performance
- Embedded Analytics focuses on embedded dashboard activity
Important: Although Enterprise Insights provides multiple predefined dashboards such as Usage Analytics, Performance Metrics, Query Metrics, and Embedded Analytics,
these dashboards are not standalone features. They are separate predefined dashboards that all function under the Enterprise Insights framework, each
serving a distinct monitoring purpose.
Conclusion
- Enterprise Insights in Bold BI provides administrators with multiple predefined dashboards (Usage Analytics, Performance Metrics, Query Metrics, and Embedded Analytics) each designed to monitor a specific aspect of system behavior. While these dashboards are presented separately and serve different purposes, they all depend on Enterprise Insights being enabled.
- Performance Metrics and Query Metrics, in particular, cannot function independently and are automatically disabled when Enterprise Insights is turned off.
- Understanding this dependency helps administrators configure monitoring features accurately without assuming architectural independence between dashboards.
