How to make the editable date field to get date and time inputs?

Published:

BoldSign now makes it easy to collect both the date and time from signers using the Editable Date field. With this field, the signer can freely select their preferred date and time. They can choose any value, past, present, or future, without needing additional time fields or making changes to your document layout.

Sender’s View

Senders can configure the editable date and time formats as shown in the following screenshot.

How to add an Editable Date field

  1. Open your document in BoldSign and go to the Prepare page to configure the fields.
  2. Drag and drop the Editable Date field onto the location where you want the signer to enter the date and time.
  3. BoldSign automatically supports timestamps for all Editable Date fields.
  4. In the Editable Date Settings, you can configure:

Date Format (e.g., dd/MM/yyyy)
Time Format (e.g., hh:mm tt)
Default Date & Time (optional)

Simple Use Case

  • Imagine a manager needs to approve a last‑minute request. The exact approval time matters.
  • When the manager selects the date, he can now also add the time—such as 04:30 PM.
  • This helps HR or Finance know exactly when the approval happened.

Key Benefits and Advantages

  • It captures both the date and exact time automatically, ensuring accurate record‑keeping.
  • It uses the signer’s local time zone, removing confusion in multi‑region workflows.
  • It helps with legal, compliance, and time‑sensitive processes by providing clear time‑based evidence.
  • It requires no extra setup—timestamps are enabled automatically for all Editable Date fields.
  • It keeps documents clean since you don’t need separate fields for date and time.
