What happens when you upgrade from a free trial to paid plan?
Upgrading from a trial plan to a paid plan is a seamless process that does not interrupt your workflows. The upgrade takes effect immediately, retains all your data, and unlocks the features included in your selected subscription plan.
What happens during the upgrade?
During the upgrade process:
- Your account remains active and fully accessible.
- Sending, signing, and managing documents continues without interruption.
- In‑progress documents and signing sessions are not affected.
- Existing users, configurations, and integrations continue to function normally.
What happens after upgrading?
Access to paid plan features
After upgrading to a paid plan:
- All trial restrictions are removed.
- Features included in your selected subscription tier are enabled immediately.
Depending on your plan, this may include higher document limits, advanced branding, team management features, API access, and additional security or compliance options.

Data retention
When you upgrade from a free trial to a paid plan, all data created during the trial is retained, including:
- Templates (reusable and single‑use).
- Documents (draft, sent, and completed documents, along with audit trails).
- Users, teams, and collaboration settings.
- Account settings and customizations, such as branding, API keys, and webhooks.
- Connected integrations, including Power Automate, Zapier, and API‑based workflows.
No data is deleted, modified, or reset during the upgrade. All existing workflows and integrations continue to operate without requiring reconfiguration.
Billing and subscription cycle
- Billing begins from the date of upgrade, not from the start of the trial.
- Your subscription cycle (monthly or yearly) starts immediately upon upgrade.
- Billing details, invoices, and subscription information can be accessed from
Billing & Subscriptionin theprofilemenu.
Note: The Billing & Subscription option is available only to account admins.
Trial expiration
- Once your account is upgraded, the trial expiration date no longer applies. Your BoldSign account remains active as long as your subscription is valid.
