How to update form fields in an existing template?

Published:

You can update form fields in an existing template to modify how recipients interact with the document. For example, you can update field names, mark fields as required, change field-specific settings, or add new form fields as needed, without creating a new template.

Steps to update form fields

  • Go to My Templates.

My Templates

  • Select the template that you want to edit.
  • Click Edit template.

Edit template

  • Navigate to the Configure fields page.
  • Select the form field that you want to configure.
  • Update the field settings as needed:
    • Enter or modify the Field ID.
    • Enable Required if recipients must complete the field before they can submit the document.
    • Modify any available settings for the selected field type.
    • Update field-specific properties, such as validation, formatting, default values, or options, where applicable.
  • Click Save template to apply your changes.

Save your changes

The selected form field is updated, and the changes are saved to the template. The updated settings will be applied whenever the template is used to create a new document.

Available settings vary depending on the form field type. For example, text fields, dropdowns, checkboxes, and signature fields each provide different configuration options.
