The BoldSign Document Scanner app allows you to customize the default file name for scanned documents. Creating a consistent naming format helps you organize scanned files more efficiently and eliminates the need to rename documents manually after each scan.

Steps to customize the default file name

Follow these steps to configure a custom default file name:

  1. Open the Settings screen.
  2. Navigate to Preferences.
  3. Tap Default file name.

  1. The current file name format is displayed. Modify it as needed.

  1. Enter a custom file name or use the available suggestion chips to create a naming pattern.

  1. Tap Update to save your changes.

Use suggestion chips

To make file naming easier and more consistent, the app provides suggestion chips that can be added to your file name format with a single tap.

Available suggestion chips include:

  1. Year
  2. Month
  3. Day
  4. Hours
  5. Minutes
  6. Seconds

You can combine these values in any order to create a naming convention that meets your requirements.

Examples

  • Scan_Year_Month_Day
  • Invoice_Day_Month_Year
  • Document_Year_Month_Day_Hours_Minutes

Use suggestion chips

Preview the file name

As you customize the file name format, the app displays a live preview of the resulting file name.

The preview updates automatically when you:

  • Add a suggestion chip.
  • Remove a suggestion chip.
  • Rearrange suggestion chips.
  • Edit the custom text.

This allows you to verify the final file name format before saving your changes.
