How to restrict the signer's name and initials editing during the signing process?

Published:

Previously, signers could modify their name and initials when using the Text signature type during the signing process. A new option is now available to restrict this behavior.

When enabled, signers can sign only using the name specified by the sender when the document is created. Initials are automatically generated from the signer name provided by the sender, and signers cannot modify either the name or initials.

This setting only applies to the Text signature type. Other signature types, such as Image or Draw signatures, are not affected by this restriction.

How to enable the restriction?

Follow these steps to prevent signers from editing their name and initials:

  1. Expand the Settings menu and select Business Profile.
  2. On the Business Profile page, scroll down to the Signature Settings section.
  3. Under the Text Signature Type, enable the Prevent signers to edit the name and initial option.
  4. Click Save changes.

Once saved, the setting is enforced during the signing process for all documents created after this option is enabled.

What signers will see?

When a signer opens a document created after this setting is enabled:

  • The Signer Name field in the signature dialog is disabled and displays the signer’s name specified by the sender.
  • The Signer Initials field in the initials dialog is disabled and displays the signer’s initials, which are automatically generated from the signer name provided by the sender.
  • The signer cannot modify either field and must complete the signing process using the sender-specified name and the generated initials.

This restriction applies only to documents created after this setting is enabled. Existing documents are not affected.
