How to create a conditional logic rule for form fields?

Published:
2 mins read

In BoldSign, this feature is currently available for Checkbox, Radio Button, and Dropdown form fields. By applying conditional logic, you can control the visibility of certain fields, making them appear only when a specific field option is selected. For instance, when a checkbox is checked, a certain form field may be displayed, and when it is unchecked, a different form field may be displayed to the signer.

Create a conditional logic rule for the checkbox

  • Click Create New and select the Create New Document option.
  • Fill in all the required fields on the prepare document page and click Next to move to the Configure fields page.
  • Drag and drop the Checkbox field to the desired location.
  • Also, add two more form fields near the checkbox to connect with it.
  • When you click the Checkbox form field, Checkbox settings will open on the right side of the page. Click the Create Logic button in the Conditional Logic field.
  • Select the Checked option from the dropdown list at the top of the page and click on the form field. The Checkbox value and the selected form field will be linked.
  • Similarly, select the Unchecked option from the dropdown list and click on another form field. The Unchecked option and the selected form field will be linked.
  • When the signer checks the checkbox, the form field(s) linked to that value will be displayed. When the check box is unchecked, the form field(s) linked to that value will be displayed.
  • You can also check the form field(s) visibility using the preview option.

Create a conditional logic rule for the radio button

  • Drag and drop the Radio button field from the form fields section.
  • Add another form field near the radio button to connect with it.
  • When you click the Radio button form field, Radio button settings will open on the right side of the page. Click Create Logic in the Conditional Logic field.
  • Select a value from the dropdown list at the top of the page and click on the form field. The selected radio button value and the form field will be linked. Similarly, link all the radio buttons to the form fields and click the Apply button.

Create a conditional logic rule for the dropdown form field

  • Drag and drop the dropdown form field to the desired location on the document.
  • Dropdown settings will open on the right side of the page. Enter the values in the dropdown options field.
  • Add another form field, specifically a textbox field, next to it, and enter the desired text to be displayed when a particular dropdown option is selected.
  • In the dropdown settings, click the Create Logic button under the Conditional Logic field.
  • Then, choose a value from the dropdown list at the top of the page to create conditional logic and click on the corresponding form field. This will link the selected drop-down field value to the form field. Once done, click the Apply button.
  • Similarly, if necessary, you can link all the dropdown field options to the form fields.
  • When signers select the required dropdown options, the form field linked to that option will be displayed.
