How to use a backup code in two-step authentication?

A backup code can be used to sign into your account when you have lost access to all the secondary verification methods.

Generate backup code

  • Go to the Settings menu and click My Profile.
  • You can find the Backup code option in the Two-step authentication section.
  • Click the Generate Backup code option near the Backup code.

  • A dialog box with all the enabled authentication methods will be displayed. Select an authentication method.

  • A verification code will be sent to the selected authentication method. Enter the code in the verification code field and click Verify.
  • A backup code will be displayed. Save the backup code to access the account when you lose access to the authentication methods.

  • Go to the BoldSign login page, enter the username and password, and click Sign In.
  • Click Choose a different verification method option and select Login with Recovery Code.

  • You will be taken to the Verification page. Enter the backup code in the textbox and click Verify.
  • Then, on the Set Up Two-step Authentication page, select an authentication method, enter the verification code sent to the selected authentication method, and click Verify.

  • Now, you will be logged into your account. Also, a new backup code will be displayed.
