Authentication is the process of verifying the identity of a user. It adds an additional layer of security to the document signing process. BoldSign supports Email OTP, SMS OTP, and access code authentication methods. The sender can select any authentication method while creating the document.
Follow the below steps to add authentication to a signer:
- Click
Create New
and selectCreate New Document
option. - On the prepare document page,
Show settings
dropdown will be displayed below the recipient field. - Click the drop-down and enable the
Authentication
feature. Email OTP, SMS OTP, and Access code authentication methods will be displayed.
Authentication Type | Reason to use | Workflow |
---|---|---|
Email OTP | To verify that the signer has access to the registered Email. | Sends an auto-generated verification code to the recipient’s Email ID. |
SMS OTP | To verify that the signer has access to the registered phone number. | Sends an auto-generated verification code to the recipient’s phone number. |
Access code | This is used when the sender wants to use a specific code to verify the signer. | The access code must be communicated personally to the signer beforehand. |
- If you select the
Email OTP
option, an OTP message will be sent to the signer’s email id. The signer must enter the received code to access the document.
- If you select the SMS OTP option, the signer should verify their phone number to receive the SMS OTP.
- Once verified, SMS OTP will be sent to that phone number. The signer must enter the received code to access the document.
- If you select the
Access code
option, you must add the code in the access code field and share it with the signer. The signer can access the document only after entering the valid code.
