To send WhatsApp signature requests via Zapier in BoldSign, you’ll need to combine BoldSign’s WhatsApp delivery feature with Zapier’s automation capabilities. Here’s a complete guide:
Prerequisites
Ensure you have:
- BoldSign Business Plan or higher
- WhatsApp add-on enabled. WhatsApp delivery costs $0.10 per signature request.
- A Zapier Account.
- Recipient’s mobile number with WhatsApp access
Step 1: Create a template in BoldSign with WhatsApp delivery
- Click on
Create Newand select theCreate New Templateoption.
- You will be redirected to the Prepare template page. Add the template title in the
Title fieldand the description in theDescription field. - Then, add files in the
Add filessection.
- In the
Add rolesection, Add Role. - Then click the dropdown arrow below the recipient field and choose
WhatsAppas theDelivery method.
- Fill any other required field and click the
Nextbutton to go to the Configure fields page. - Drag and drop the required form fields to the document and save the template.

Step 2: Set up a Zap in Zapier
- Add a Trigger App (e.g., Google Sheets, Typeform, etc.). For example, let’s use
RowShareas the trigger app. - Choose the automation: Send BoldSign signature requests for new RowShare rows .
- Click the
Try this templatebutton, and you will be directed to the Zap creation page. - Provide the relevant title at the top of the page and proceed to set up the template.
- In the trigger section, by default,
RowShareis set as the trigger app, andNew Rowis the trigger event. - Connect your RowShare account and select the
Tablefrom which you want to fetch the details. - Then, test the trigger and click the
Continuebutton to move on to the next section.
- For the Action section,
BoldSignis pre-set as the action app, andSend Document From Templateis the action event.
- Connect the BoldSign account and choose the template you created with WhatsApp delivery.
- Based on the chosen template, the fields will be displayed one below the other.
- In the
Recipient phone numberfield, provide the recipient’s valid phone number with country code, e.g., +9199944… - Click True in the Sandbox Mode field to test the integration without consuming API credits.
- Map any other required fields, then proceed to test the action. Once the test is successful, publish the Zap and turn it on.
Now, whenever recipient details are added to the RowShare table, a document will be automatically sent for signature.
The signer should receive a secure link via WhatsApp chat to sign the document.
WhatsApp notifications include signature requests, reminders, completion alerts, document expiration and deletion warnings. Each notification is charged at $0.10 per notification.
