How do I enable or disable CC for HIPAA-enabled accounts in the mobile app?
In the BoldSign mobile app, the CC (carbon copy) feature is disabled by default for HIPAA-enabled accounts to prevent unauthorized access to Protected Health Information (PHI). However, you can manage CC notifications from the BoldSign web app, which controls whether users can add CC recipients when creating documents in the mobile app.
Enable or disable CC notifications in Web app
To manage the CC feature for HIPAA-enabled accounts:
- From the Dashboard page, expand the
Settingsmenu and selectBusiness Profile. - Scroll down to the Enable HIPAA Compliance section and locate the
Enable CC Notificationoption. - Toggle the
Enable CC Notificationsetting:- Enabled: Allows senders to add CC recipients to receive document progress notifications. Use this option with caution, as it may expose PHI and affect HIPAA compliance.
- Disabled: Prevents senders from adding CC recipients, maintaining stricter privacy controls.
- Click
Save changesto apply your updates.
Only account administrators can modify CC notification settings.
How it works in the mobile app
Once the CC setting is configured in the web app, it directly affects the document creation experience in the mobile app.
Follow the steps below to add cc recipients in the mobile app:

Open the BoldSign mobile app and tap the
+icon. -
Select
Create New Document. -
Upload your document and enter the recipient details.

On the Prepare Document screen:
- If CC is disabled in HIPAA settings, the
Add CCfield will be inactive and the sender cannot add CC recipients.
- If CC is enabled in HiPAA settings, the
Add CCfield will be active. Tap it to enter the CC recipient details.
- If CC is disabled in HIPAA settings, the

Once all details are filled in, proceed to send the document for signature.
