How do I grant access to audit trails for Team or Account Administrators?

Published:

By default, Team Administrators and Account Administrators cannot access documents or audit trails that belong to other users.

To grant access, an Account Owner must create or update a custom permission that allows administrators to view documents within the permitted scope.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure that:

  • You are an Account Owner.
  • You have permission to create or modify custom permissions.

Grant access to audit trails

Step 1: Open Custom Permissions

  1. Go to Users & Teams.
  2. Select Custom Permissions.

  1. Click Create Permission or select an existing custom permission to edit.
  2. Select the Team Administrator or Account Administrator who requires access.
  3. Choose the appropriate team or scope.
  4. Locate the View Document permission.
  5. Set the access type to Allow.
  6. Save the permission.

Step 3: Verify access

  1. Sign in as the administrator, or ask the administrator to sign in.
  2. Open a document within the assigned permission scope.
  3. Confirm that the document and its audit trail are accessible.
  4. Verify that the audit trail can be viewed or downloaded.
  • Access must be granted through a custom permission created by an Account Owner.
  • Access is limited to the scope defined by the assigned custom permission.
  • Administrators can access only the documents and audit trails permitted by the assigned permission.

After the custom permission is assigned, the administrator can access permitted documents and their associated audit trails. Depending on the assigned permissions, the administrator can also download audit trails and related documents within the allowed scope.
