2 mins read

When automating document workflows with BoldSign via Zapier, you might encounter the error message: You don’t have the required permission to perform this operation. This issue typically relates to your BoldSign subscription plan and the Sandbox Mode setting within your Zapier integration.

Permission required error when sending documents via Zapier

The You don’t have the required permission to perform this operation error indicates that your current BoldSign subscription plan and the Sandbox Mode setting are not configured for live API operations.

Error

Causes of the error

  • Limited plan permissions:
You may be on a subscription plan other than the Enterprise API plan, such as Business or Premium.

  • Sandbox mode set to false:
If Sandbox Mode is set to false, you’re attempting to send documents in a live/production environment.

How to resolve the error

You can resolve this issue using one of the following methods:

Option 1: Upgrade to the Enterprise API plan
To send documents in a live (production) environment via Zapier (with Sandbox Mode set to false), you must be on the Enterprise API plan.
With this plan:

  • You can send documents in production without restrictions.
  • The You don’t have the required permission to perform this operation error will no longer occur.

Option 2: Enable Sandbox Mode (Set to true)
If you’re sending documents for testing purpose and not sending documents in a live environment, set Sandbox Mode to true in your Zapier integration. This allows you to send documents without any issues.

Enable sandbox mode

Documents created in Sandbox Mode are automatically deleted after 14 days.
