Understanding data residency in BoldSign

Published:

Data residency determines the geographic region where your data is stored and processed. When creating a BoldSign account, you can select a data residency region based on your organization’s business, compliance, or regulatory requirements.

This article explains the available data residency regions, the types of data covered by data residency, and whether the selected region can be changed after account creation.

What data residency regions are available?

BoldSign supports the following data residency regions:

  • United States (US)
  • European Union (EU)
  • Canada (CA)
  • Australia (AU)

The selected region determines where supported document and signing data are stored and processed.

What data is covered by data residency?

The selected data residency region applies to:

  • Documents
  • Templates
  • Audit trails
  • Signer information

These data types are stored and processed within the selected region.

What data may be processed outside the selected region?

Some services and data types are not covered by data residency.

Examples include:

  • Subscription and billing information is stored in the United States.
  • Email processing for Canada-region accounts may use infrastructure located in the United States.

Data residency applies only to supported document and signing data. Some supporting services may process data outside the selected region.

How can I review BoldSign subprocessors?

Information about BoldSign subprocessors, including their processing activities, locations, and purposes, is available on the Subprocessors page.

  • Documents, templates, audit trails, and signer information are stored and processed within the selected region.
